Dream Entry*
August 7, 2005
It’s a bitterly cold day. I notice an inviting little hole that seems like a good place to hunker down for awhile. I’m about to duck inside when a ground hog pops out. He sees me, shrieks, then ducks back down the hole.
“Nice going,” somebody behind me says. “You just scared us into six more weeks of winter.”
It’s Bigfoot. He shakes his head in disapproval.
“Our friends are going to need more books to read by the fireside,” he says.
Even though he’s much too big, Bigfoot squeezes through the hole. He calls to me to hurry up and bring the books. That’s when I notice the huge sack. It’s heavy and it’s too wide to fit through the hole. Bigfoot was, too, so I pull the sack along and somehow I’m able to drag it behind me through the hole. There’s a long tunnel I have to crawl down. At the other end I find all my friends and the three puppies I’ve been seeing in my dreams. Everybody, including the ground hog, is cozied together near a fireplace. They’re reading and drinking hot chocolate. When they see me, they rush over and snatch the books out of the sack.
